The Longbranch is located in one of the most scenic areas of Texas. This region of the Edwards Plateau, often refered to as the Hill Country, is characterized by rolling granite hills, beautiful vistas, with a variety of oaks across the landscape. Dr. Wallace Klussmann and family are the owners of this property. Klussmann retired from the Texas A&M University System where he was on faculty with the Wildlife & Fisheries Sciences Department, serving as department head for a period of time. Upon retirement, he and wife Delores, retired to the ranch where they still currently reside.

This beautiful place is located about 20 miles northwest of the popular tourist destination of Fredericksburg, and is a stone’s throw from Enchanted Rock State Park. The Longbranch is high fenced and is home to a healthy population of native white-tailed deer. Wildlife Systems, Inc. has been taking care of the hunting operations on the Longbranch since 1998. These deer hunts are set up as 4 day packages which include meals, lodging, guide, and game care. An intensive feeding program has produced some great whitetail bucks over the years and deer hunters will typically have an opportunity to look over a large number of bucks through the course of the hunt. The lodging is a 3 bedroom, 3 bath facility, comfortable dining/living room, and outdoor dining area that overlooks one of the many lakes that are on the property.

Deer hunters can fly into San Antonio, rent a car, and drive 1.5 hours to the ranch. You might plan on spending an extra day to enjoy some of the local attractions, especially in Fredericksburg where there are numerous wineries, great restaurants, and some really neat shops. Octoberfest is especially a popular time.
