Since 1987, we have hosted exotic, whitetail and mule deer hunts for over 5,000 clients from around the globe, and we annually host hunts for hunters from over 25 states and multiple foreign countries. The quality of our customer service package was recognized by North American Hunting Club as we were chosen as their 2002 Dodge Outfitter of the Year, from a list of over 450 outfitters in North America. Greg Simons - General Manager, Principal

Greg Simons graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Wildlife and Fisheries Sciences from Texas A&M University in 1987, with emphasis on wildlife ecology. After graduation, Greg immediately formed Wildlife Systems, Inc., which is a company he still co-owns and operates today. WSI operates hunting and wildlife programs on approximately 1,000,000 acres of private land in Texas, scattered over many different properties across the state. This company was named Dodge Outfitter of the Year in 2003 from a cast of over 450 hunting operations in North America. Greg has also worked with various hunting programs in several other states including Colorado, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Utah, and various foreign countries, including South Africa, Zimbabwe, Zambia, New Zealand, Canada, and Mexico. Greg serves as a principal and GM with Wildlife Consultants, LLC, a company specializing in providing technical assistance for wildlife and land-related needs to landowners, bank trust groups, and others. He is also co-founder and a principal of Conservation Equity Partners, LLC, a company that focuses on forestry management, regulatory compliance, environmental mitigation, and investing venture capital in real-estate acquisitions that have conservation uplift opportunities. Greg is past president of Texas A&M University Student Chapter of The Wildlife Society, past officer in the Texas Chapter of TWA, past president of Texas Wildlife Association (10,000+ members), current Board trustee for Texas Wildlife Association Foundation, current board member for Dallas Safari Club, current executive committee member of National Deer Association, current member of White-tailed Deer Advisory Committee for TPWD, current Mule Deer Advisory Committee member for TPWD, current advisory committee member for Texas A&M University’s Range, Wildlife, and Fisheries Management Dept, past board member of the San Angelo Chamber of Commerce, past San Angelo CVB board chairman, current member of advisory board for Conservation Force, and has served on many other appointed committees. Greg has spent much time with wildlife policy work, helping to craft legislative language, working with members of the Texas Legislature, and providing testimony before House and Senate committees. He is a past co-owner of Texas Hunting Directory and past co-owner of Wildlife Safaris, Inc., which served as a booking agency for international hunting operations. He has had many articles published in various hunting magazines and has given many presentations around the country and internationally on various topics including marketing, risk management, game harvest photography, enterprise development, customer service strategies, hunters’ role in conservation, and the North American Model of Wildlife Conservation. Greg and his wife currently reside in San Angelo, Texas.

Deborah Simons - Company Controller, Principal

Deborah grew up in Houston and met WSI co-owner, Greg Simons, while attending Texas A&M University. After moving to San Angelo in 1988, she graduated with a B.S. degree in math from Angelo State University, though those around her say she should have been a computer science major, as she excels with various computer skill. Deborah takes care of WSI financial books including receivables and payables and assists with other WSI business matters. She is an active tennis player and competes locally in a USTA sanctioned amateur league. She grew up deer hunting with her dad and though she seldom gets to hunt anymore, she has an appreciation for hunting and the outdoors.

Terry Anderson - Principal

Terry Anderson joined WSI in 2018 as a company principal and Director of Development. His business function with WSI principally includes researching opportunities for company growth, exploring ideas to enhance operational procedures, in addition to overseeing the business operations of Conservation Equity Partners, LLC that he and Greg Simons co-own. Terry received his B.S. in Forestry with an emphasis in Wildlife Management from Stephen F. Austin State University. Until 2018, he was co-owner and President of Advanced Ecology, LLC (AEL), as well as a partner in a series of affiliated support companies made up of foresters, ecologists, GIS specialists, real-estate developers, and marketers, specializing in working with land, water, and wildlife resources through traditional approaches and creative enterprises. Working with landowners, private equity groups, venture capitalists, state and federal regulators, realtors, and land trusts, Terry focused much of his time and energy in developing integrated conservation and mitigation projects. In addition to having expertise in applied field biology disciplines, Anderson is well-versed in conservation finance strategies and federal environmental policy, while applying “good to great” principles to business cultures. Terry has hunted in several countries, but has a fondness for Alaska, where he has traveled, hunted, and fished extensively over the last 20 years. He has a great deal of appreciation for land and owns several properties in Texas, Arkansas, and Montana. Terry also currently serves as an adjunct professor for the Forestry Department at Stephen F. Austin State University. Terry serves on the Executive Committee for Texas Wildlife Association and as a Board Trustee for Texas Wildlife Association Foundation. He and his family reside near Nacogdoches, Texas.

Jennifer Jezek - Office/Special Projects Manager

Jennifer has 4 boys, 3 grandsons, and 2 granddaughters that are the love of her life. She has a strong background in office management, web designs, and graphic arts. She has a great deal of experience in the hunting business. She has specialized in website development for hunting operations over the past 20 years.

Pete Ewald - WSI Field Manager

Pete grew up in San Angelo, Texas in an Agricultural Family. He started working part time and seasonally full-time for Wildlife Systems in 2014, while finishing up his natural resource management degree from Angelo State. In 2016 he took on the roll as Field Manager for Wildlife Systems. While his duties as field manager keep him busy. He is also on a number of WSI camps and properties throughout the year guiding hunters.

Don Richardson - Guide

Don or “Bass” has been around longer than anybody else. After returning from Vietnam, he made a career as a fireman serving under Captain Benny Simons (Greg’s father). When Mr. Simons was busy working, Don would take Greg hunting with him and has been helping WSI as a camp manager/guide since 2000. Don has lived the majority of his life around Mesquite, TX and currently lives in Wylie.

Ruben Cantu - Guide

Ruben started guiding for Wildlife Systems in 2012 after retiring from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department as a wildlife biologist. Since then he and Wildlife Systems owner, Greg Simons, have partnered up to form Wildlife Consultants, LLC a private wildlife consulting enterprise. Ruben mostly guides Wildlife Systems hunters for mule deer in the mountains of west Texas and white-tail hunts around the San Angelo area. And as time permits is available for spring turkey hunts.

Jackie Murphy - Guide

Jackie grew up in Brownfield, Texas and left after high school to attend Texas Tech University. He graduated with an accounting degree and worked as a CPA for a “Big Eight” firm and other companies for 20 plus years. Following his lifelong dream, he then attended a guide’s school in Colorado and hasn’t looked back since. He serves us as a camp manager and guide throughout the entire year and has one of the strongest work ethics as anybody we know. He’s been around since 2005.

Craig Bowen - Guide

Craig grew up in a farming and ranching environment in northwest Texas. He holds a B.S. in Wildlife Ecology and an M.S. in Agricultural Economics, both from Texas A&M University. He is a licensed Real Estate Broker (TREC #590507), a Registered Property Tax Consultant (TDLR #11201), and an experienced wildlife biologist, holding the Associate Wildlife Biologist accreditation with the National Wildlife Society. Craig serves on advisory boards for the Texas Youth Hunting Program and the Texas Big Game Awards, and is an Official Measurer for the Boone & Crockett Club. As Managing Partner of Plateau Land Group, LP, Craig won the title of 2016 Western Region High Producer for the national Keller Williams LAND division. Craig began work with WSI in 2002 as a seasonal intern, followed up with 3 more years of interning in the fall, and still enjoys helping hunters reach their goals in many of Wildlife Systems’ amazing hunting camps.

John Frankson - Guide

John was born, raised and still lives in country west of Palacios, Texas. Class of “73 at Texas A&M. Fishing guide service at Port O’Connor, Texas and guiding since 1979. Really enjoys hunting nilgai.

Charlie Buchen - Guide

Charlie was born and raised in South Texas. His love of the outdoors were instilled at a very young age. He attended and graduated from Texas A&M/Kingsville with a degree in Range and Wildlife management, with a minor in Biology in 1993. Upon graduating Charlie started Tailchaser Guide Serve. He has been working in South Texas and Northern Mexico for over 30 years. He looks forward to meeting new clients and having great hunting and fishing experience.

Charlie has been guiding for WSI since 2014.

Ted Simpson - Guide

Ted Simpson is from Fredericksburg, Texas. He first met Greg Simons at a Buckskin Brigade meeting in the fall of 2003 on the Nail Ranch. At that time, he was working for the NRCS located in Comanche, Texas. He then started working for WSI operation and gradually became more involved as time has gone by. Ted has been involved in agriculture and wildlife all his life. He looks forward to seeing clients he has worked with in previous years as well as new clients.

Mike Gray - Guide

When Mike isn’t selling Ag chemicals he prefers to be out in the field. He has been serving WSI as a guide since 2000 on both the La Rucia and H. Yturria Ranches and calls south Texas home.

David Griffith - Chef

After 24 years of teaching Ag. Science, acting as a paramedic after hours, and catering in between, David is enjoying semi-retirement. Fortunately, for WSI he loves to cook and spends ample time throughout the year keeping hunters’, guides’, and Greg’s bellies full and has since 2004. Between Wildlife Systems and his wife, grandkids, church, and other cooking jobs he is one busy man.

Mike Lassig - Guide

Native to the Valley in South Texas, Mike has spent his whole life outdoors. He is married with 2 kids and was raised on a farm/ranch and continues to farm today. When not working, one can generally find him hunting. He killed his first deer when he was 9 years old and hasn’t slowed down since. He has a number of different species across much of the western US. He has been guiding for Wildlife Systems since 2007.

Richard Berry - Chef

Born and raised in South Texas, Richard developed an interest in cooking early on. After graduation from Texas A&M Univ., Kingsville, he traveled the state as a working cowboy on the King Ranch, TicTacToe, L Bar, 77, and SA Bar ranches. During a career as a cowboy/ranch manager, he continued to hone his skills as a chef, developing his culinary ability and recipes to cater to an ever growing demand for his services. These recipes have satisfied even the most discriminating politicians, celebrities, professional athletes, ranch gatherings, family and friends. Today, Richard and his wife, Renee, own and operate Broken Spoke Cattle Company in Live Oak County, featuring crossbred cattle and a 27 year commitment to wildlife management and conservation.

Richard has been cooking for WSI for 5 years.

Rhonda Eckert - Cook

What does a retired teacher married to a hunting guide do? She cooks for hunting camps. I am Rhonda Eckert, a Texas Hill Country native born and raised on a farm and ranch. I’ve hunted, fished, worked livestock, shown 4-H and FFA projects, cooked, and sewed all of my life. I was born and married into it!! Ted Simpson, a WSI guide, is my husband and personal fishing and hunting guide.
