Spring Turkey
One of the key ingredients to quality, high success spring turkey hunting is the ability to have access to large land masses of quality turkey habitat. We have it. Annually, our turkey hunts take place on approximately ten properties totaling near 100,000 acres. We restrict the number of mature gobblers we take off of a given property, and we adjust the harvest numbers annually based on our turkey population’s reproductive success during the preceding few years.
Wildlife Systems offers two different turkey hunting packages. Our most common turkey hunting package is an all-inclusive arrangement that provides you with guide (2×1), meals, lodging, airport shuttle (conditional), and game care. Some of our packages are 2-bird packages, while others include 1 bird.
We also offer a limited number of “unassisted” turkey hunts where hunters essentially do their own thing. On most of these hunts, hunters either camp out or stay in town in a motel. This is a no frills deal, but the hunting is great, with hunters enjoying high success hunts.
Licenses are unlimited, over the counter licenses, where no drawing or lottery is required. Nonresident spring turkey hunting licenses are $126, unless you purchased a general non-resident license during the previous fall, and then you only pay for a $7.00 Upland Bird Stamp Validation. There are no age restrictions in Texas, and youth licenses are only $7.00 for a Texas hunting license. You can simply fill out our Hunter Profile form and send that back to us your license fees, and we will have your hunting license waiting for you, or you can procure the license yourself at TPWD.
Our Texas spring turkey hunting season essentially runs from the third weekend of March through the second weekend of May. Our southern Texas turkey hunting zone starts two weeks prior to our north zone and ends two weeks earlier than the north zone.
We offer a unique and fun spring turkey hunting – combo hunts package where you can hunt turkeys, hogs, and possibly javelina on the same hunts. These hunts normally take place in South Texas and include one gobbler and two feral hogs, or one gobbler, one feral hog and one javelina. These Texas turkey hunting combo hunts are generally limited in availability, so don’t delay if you are truly interested in booking one of these Spring Turkey – combo hunts.
